Did you know that losing just 10 percent of of your body weight, if you are overweight, can significantly improve your blood pressure, chollestrol levels, and overall heart health?

Eat at home more often.
Home made meals can be lower in,fat, salt, and chollestrol and higher in fibre and nutrients. As you do the cooking, you can control the ingredients and the cooking methods.

Eat more nuts.
All nuts and seeds can be taken as healthy snack. They are quite fulfilling and just a handful will go along way in improving your health. Some nuts that you can so easily incorporate into your diet include; cashewnuts, peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, sesame seeds, pistachios, walnuts. They all contain healthy fats.

Screening.
Get yourself a healthy check up every so often.Knowing your health status can help you make the right health changes at least once a year. Many of the health threatening diseases if detected early through a medical screening, can be treated cured.Screening is one of the best strategies for preventive care.It is always said preventive is better than cure.

THE NEED FOR GOOD NUTRITION AMONG BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS.

Breast feeding plays an important role in making food security a reality for the 140million babies born every year.

You will agree with me that mothers around the world are faced with the daily need to answer the cries of their hungry infants without the security of breast milk.

Breast feeding then becomes the first and the most immediate response to food insecurity to infants and should be promoted and supported. There is of course need to consider other comlexities associated with breast feeding such as mothers in refugee camps, war zones or in countries facing natural disasters. Breastfeeding reduces childhood diseases and deaths.

Of the 150 million refugees in the world today 2 million at any one given time are mothers. Also urban centres and in both the developed and the developing world consists of large populations of unemployed and working poor for whom artificial feeding is an unaffordable choice.

But even in the midst of malnutrition, famine, hunger, drought and disaster breast feeding remains the best choice for infants.Breast milk changes to adopt to the surroundings.Breast milk will provide antibodies to protect the baby if there is new infectious agent in her surroundings. It therefore changes form to meet the childs needs.

Breaast milk is also impotrant for pre-term babies, as it is more energy dense and has more nutrients to cater for pre-term babies.

Also research has shown that, succeeful breastfeeding contributes to mother's self esteem and confidence which, are critical for her ability to take care of herself and the family.

Breaaastfeeding therefore provides total food security for infants as it is readily available, affordable and nutritious, and is complete food for infants up to the age of six months.

Therefore as a mother you should know that even after six months breast feeding continues to provide the growing child with essential nutrients and energy, and helps to prevent malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies up to the second year of life and beyond alongside other foods.

Aside from the dictates of modern lifestyles our modern mothers needs to take the issues of breast feeding more seriously than most currently do.

HEALTH TIPS ON DEALING WITH CONSTIPATION IN CHILDREN

Welcome to YOU AND YOUR HEALTH.The place where you will always get top tips on how to manage your health issues.

Constipation is a very common health complication in children. The condition varies among children but it is mostly common among children aged between two and four and lasts only a few days. This condition expresses itself in form of the difficulty of the child to pass stool.
The condition can however develop into the chronic form if untreated. This is manifested in the way a child passes stool every other day or if the stool is passed less often and is accompanied by a strain and pain.
You may use some of the following tips to deal with constipation among the children.

1) You can use a good dietary plan that includes a lot of fibre and fluids. This way the stool will be bulky but soft and easy to pass out.

2)Regularly exercises will help the food to move faster within the gasteral intestinal tract(GIT) reducing the duration and hence reducing the problem associated with it.

3)You need to reduce the amount of fizzy drinks taken by children. The problem with these is that the storage chemicals not only interferes with the digestion process, but also the children's bellies will be filled up reducing the desirable fibre intake.

4)Water is very important especially to prevent this problem in children, but in addition you should use fruit juices that contain fructose and sorbitol as they cause laxative effects. We are talking about juices such as prune, pear and apple juices.

5)Toilet training. You should train and encourage your child into a regular toilet habit.Holding on for longer period without going to the toilet exercerbates the problem. The children may avoid using the toilets if they have painful experience due to the same condition or the toilets are dirty.

You can encourage them to be passing stool at certain times such as after breakfast or before going to bed or school. You should not rush them though.Use encouragements or some reward system, be friendly and make less fuss about it and you will have less problem of constipation in your childern.

Have a successful parenting.

HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR HEALTH?

Welcome to you and your health blog.

Let me start by saying what many people already know: That not so many people really get deeply concerned about their health. For instance let me ask you something, how many times have you felt a sharp headache only to rush to the local chemist to buy pain relievers. Its ok. the pain was relieved, right? But did you make a follow up later to a qualified doctor to get an examination on what the problem could have been? Or your heart 'skips' a beat, or a sharp pain in the lower back,.....or a slight but a pain that reccurs much later; but a pain all the same.

Its ok. you are not alone. Many people would not be bothered, so long as these pains would not be reccurent long enough to put them out of 'action' for a day or longer. What most of the people may not know is that of the major problems afflicting many patients today so many starts with small symptoms such as those that I have described above.

The health aspect of the human body is very intriguing and poses a lot of challenges to even the most of the experienced doctors. Its a wide field in which no matter how much the number of doctors and scientists that we have in this world the amount of information and solutions are inexhaustible.

Let me finish by saying that I may not know much about the law, but I may safely suppose that that while the jury may not be the most schooled in law, they make judgements based on the layman's understanding or put in another way, as seen through the eyes of the commoner.

What am trying to tell you my visitor is you will profit a lot from medical advice if you keep on visiting this blog on important health and medical updates, but which information should be used 'as is basis'.Therefore, although this blog will contain a lot information that you will need you should not use it as an alternative to your medical doctor.

These are tips offered based on general medical experiences which may or may not apply to your medical condition your experiences or symptoms.

Thankyou again, for visiting and be sure to be coming here regularly for your medical updates. Lets toast to and your health!
